FMBP - now with more bees

Welcome to a Friday Morning Bullet Post, courtesy of the spring term.

  • We are nearly to the end of the spring semester and the workload has increased markedly around chez trek. My programming students took their final yesterday and so I now have well over 50 programs to compile run and evaluate.

  • I received an email approximately one hour after the end of the exam:

    From: Somewhat Panicky Student
    To: professor trek
    ========================================

Could you please let me know what my final average and the test grade is when you grade my final? Thank you!

  • No, I haven't replied, yet.

  • I'm battling against being buried in bytes.

  • Alliteration. Gotta love it.

  • For a bit more "b" alliteration, I've been busy bundling bunches of Box Tops for Education for the school.

  • At the grocery store yesterday, I made sure to buy the head of lettuce with the Green Giant logo on it specifically because it had a Box Top on it.

  • You see, it doesn't look like are going to make goal this year.

  • We just missed it last year, too.

  • Just trying to do my part.

  • Bug alert this week: a bee snuck into the house.

  • Sucked it up in the Dust Buster.

  • Not a powerful unit: bee survived and I released it outside.

  • Planning to order one of these: none of these.

  • Bugs won't stand a chance against that much horsepower.

  • Worked on some socks for Neatnik last night.

  • Second evening spent on sock knitting while Neatnik watched The Princess Diaries.

  • The first one was St. John in Exileon Easter Sunday.

  • See previous bullets regarding end of the semester.

  • John in Exile is an awesome movie, by the way. A one-man play starring Dean Jones.

  • Yes, I am fully aware that he was the star of the Herbie the Love Bugmovies. Forget all of that: he's fabulous as St John.

  • Wanted to celebrate the ending of the semester by going away for the weekend.

  • Kind of a last-minute decision.

  • Everyone else had the same idea at least two weeks ago and there are no hotels in any of the places I thought we'd like to visit this weekend.

  • Apparently Mother's Day weekend is a big travel weekend.

  • Who knew?

  • Oh, well, we'll go away another weekend.

  • Are you planning to go out to eat to celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday?

  • We aren't. If we'd been able to find a place to go for the weekend, we still would have been home for dinner on Sunday in any event.

  • We protest Mother's Day brunch, lunch, and dinner offerings at restaurants.

  • Too many bad experiences in past years: poor service, undercooked food, overcooked food, kids running wild, rushed seating, crowded dining rooms.

  • I figure we'll slap a steak on the grill.
How are you planning to celebrate moms this weekend? Whatever you do, I hope you enjoy yourself while you do it!

Perfect timing! Have 40 of the box tops saved but learned that nephew's school is no longer participating. Willing to mail ASAP if they will help.

I host a Mom Day brunch at our house. It's fun... and laid back.

Come to Boston again! :)

I've got a basket full of box tops on my counter, and no kids to take them. I'd be happy to send them to you if you'd like.

Yay for the end of the term! Here's hoping you dig your way out of the bytes to freedom soon. :)

Tomorrow we're having a family birthday party. I was considering going to the Shepherd's Harvest Fiber Festival on Sunday, but it's going to be really, REALLY rainy, so I think I'll pass until next year.

I'm another person with box tops, if it's not too late!
