Since yesterday we had clever signs, I thought we should follow up today with a couple of typos from Washington, DC.
This one came from an interactive exhibit in the National Air and Space Moosuem Museum. (The contrast on the touch screen monitor wasn't great, so clicky to embiggen to read more easily.)
Making science majors look bad.
This was posted on the fence of the carousel on the National Mall.

Carousel monarchy?!

11 yarns:
Too funny:D
On a side note. I used to ride that very carousel when I was a little girl.
My Daddy worked as a curator at the Smithsonian so I spent a lot of time there.
Head slap. How embarrassing. (
OOOOO. One of my STRONGEST pet peeves. I used to have to control myself NOT to correct memos from Dept. Heads at Mass General Hospital which were rife with either typos or ignorance. They were a study in bad grammar, and an embarrassment. I still twitch when thinking about it! (O.C.D.)
You weren't kidding.
O noes - A Bun Dent!
Oh now that is just embarrassing. I should consider a career as museum spell-checker...
Why do they just seem so much worse when in Washington DC?? Our tax dollars at work - NOT!
You would think with all those people who have seen that sign, at least one would bring it up to someone. Course maybe they did and no one has done anything about it yet.
I screen captured a good one on the NECN.com website on Thursday. Never as good though as when my local newspaper used the word pubic instead of public in 72 point type on the front page. I forgot to keep it.
Spellcheck at its most effective! Reigns/reins--don't you just love it. Homonyms R Us!
verification word: prome, as opposed to amateurme.
Hehe :) Mispelled signs do annoy me as I think kids will take those spellings as right.
