If a picture is worth a thousand words,

then this post is a novella...

Removing the old plywood

Demolition is a very noisy operation!

Patching the floor
Laminate floors require level underlayment

Hopscotch vs checkerboard
Two options for tile arrangement
We went with the one on the left

It's all in the details
Laying a floor requires attention to detail

Ready to use
Job well-done

That looks really nice! We need to replace our flooring in the entire house. Will have to do it a bit at a time though. We will be going with Pergo.

We had to go to the home center this morning for new sliders for the kitchen chair legs. The counter tops on display there were looking really spiffy...

But we were there for sliders and so sliders we purchased. And a doorbell. And some hooks.

Somehow the cashier let us leave without spending over $100.

Must have been a new employee...

Lovely! And now I can picture the Family Trek eating their many meals right there at the table. I love when I can actually picture people in their homes.

Nice! In my house, that would have involved me spending a week on my hands and knees, sweating and swearing and wishing I had just forked over the money to have someone else do the job. Your way looks much better.

Did the underlayment affect the height of your appliances any? We went from linoleum to underlay and tile and ended up re-doing the countertops a bit higher... the old one thing leads to another bit.
