Nubbly Napkin and Placemat
This pattern is based on the Nubbins Dishcloth. I use two stitch markers when knitting these; they serve as visual reminders for knitting on and binding off stitches at the beginning of each row.
The placemat is knit from bottom to top, putting the nubbins on the right and left edges. The napkin is knit from side to side, so that when folded in half or thirds, the nubbins are on the top and bottom as shown in the picture.
Abbreviations
pm - place marker
sm - slip marker
KO2 - knit on two stitches
BO2 - bind off two stitches
BO - bind off

I thought you were sick, and here you are writing up patterns! Thank you :) hope you're feeling better. I finished the String Bag and really like it! i'll definitely make another :)
Cute!! Thanks for the pattern. Hope you're getting better...
Cool! Nubbins, the bigger the better, eh? I'm putting a link to your version on my blog.
Those are great! They would make a wonderful wedding or housewarming gift. Or they would look nice on my dining room table. (note to self: get dining room table...)
Shouldn't you be in bed resting??? Just asking...
I love that!!! Better go and get some more yarn.
Great pattern!
Great idea!
Thanks for adding those instructions. I'll do some experimenting.
