The first of the Autumn Sunset Socks is complete. Feels great on the foot, too. The toe instructions are based on Wendy's Short Row Toe.

Autumn Sunset

Autumn Sunset Socks

Materials
Kona superwash
one set of size 2 dpns

Cuff
Cast on 64 sts. Join. Work two inches of 2 x 2 rib.

Leg
Work in St st until leg is a total of 6" or preferred length.

Heel Flap - worked over 32 sts
Knit 16, turn.
Sl1, p31, turn.

Round 1 - *Sl1, k1* rep btwn *
Round 2 - Sl1, purl to end
Work heel flap on the for 17 repeats (34 rows).

Turn Heel
Row 1: Sl1, 18, k2tog, k1 turn
Row 2: Sl1, p7, p2tog, p1, turn
Row 3: Sl1, k8, k2tog, k1, turn
Row 4: Sl1, p9, p2tog, p1, turn

Continue in this manner until all stitches are worked.

Ankle Join
Sl1, k31.
Pick up 19 sts along side of heel flap for gusset. Knit instep stitches. Pick up 19 sts along side of heel flap for gusset. Knit 10 sts. Knit one round even

Gussets
Round 1 - Knit
Round 2 -
Needle 1 - Knit up to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1
Needle 2 - Knit across
Needle 3 - Knit across
Needle 4 - K1, ssk, knit to end of needle
Work gusset decreases for 13 repeats. (Each needle now has 16 sts)

Foot
Knit even for until foot measures about 2" less than desired length.

Toe Shaping - worked over 32 sts of sole of foot
Knit 15, turn.
Purl 32, turn.

Bottom half of toe
Row 1: K31, yf, sl 1, yb, turn.
Row 2: Sl1, p30, yb, sl 1, yf, turn.
Row 3: Sl1, knit to last unworked st, yf, sl 1, yb, turn.
Row 4: Sl1, purl to last unworked st, yb, sl 1, yf, turn.

Repeat rows 3 and 4 until there are 11 wrapped sts at each side and 12 unwrapped sts in the middle.

Top half of toe
Row 1: Sl1, knit live sts to first unworked st, pick up wrap and ktog with its st, yf, sl 1, yb, turn.
Row 2: Sl1, purl live sts to first unworked st, pick up wrap and ptog with its st, yb, sl 1, yf, turn.
Row 3: Sl1, knit live sts to first unworked st, pick up both wraps and ktog with its st, yf, sl 1, yb, turn.
Row 4: Sl1, purl live sts to first unworked st, pick up both wraps and ptog with its st, yb, sl 1, yf, turn.

Repeat rows 3 and 4 until all sts are worked.

Graft the (64) live sts together.
